The Opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi
We have a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) opportunity for a Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer to make significant impact and develop their career in teaching, research and service.
We are open to expertise across areas relevant to the School of Allied Health/Physiotherapy Department and are particularly interested in applicants who can contribute to our teaching and research in Musculoskeletal physiotherapy.
In this role, you’ll play a vital part in shaping the next generation of physiotherapists by:
Delivering and developing innovative teaching in our undergraduate and postgraduate physiotherapy programs
Contributing to our dynamic curriculum, integrating cultural safety and contemporary clinical practice
Engaging in research that advances physiotherapy practice and education
Supporting student learning in both classroom and clinical settings
Participating in departmental initiatives that promote equity and excellence in healthcare education
We embrace practice-led, research-informed approaches to teaching. Your contributions to programme and course development will support our continuous-improvement focus. You will teach across programmes as assigned by the Head of Department/School and be comfortable using digital resources to enhance learning. You will publish actively in your specialised field/s. We offer an excellent research environment with contestable research funds, and with guidance available from senior scholars. It is also expected that over time the successful candidate will seek and attract external research funding, engage with government, business, professional bodies and the community, and contribute to School/Faculty activities.

Key attributes for ensuing success in this role include:
Registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand
A current Annual Practising Certificate
Masters qualification or higher
Clinical expertise in musculoskeletal physiotherapy
Demonstrated understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and their application in healthcare education
Experience in culturally responsive teaching practices
Strong commitment to cultural safety in healthcare education
Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working with Māori and Pacific communities in healthcare settings, have evidence of research outputs and scholarly activity and experience in developing culturally appropriate learning resources.

Criteria: (for Career-path Lecturers/Senior Lecturers)
Qualification:
A Masters qualification
Registered (or seeking registration) with the respective board in New Zealand.
A current Annual Practicing Certificate
Teaching:
An early career academic will ideally have at least some previous teaching assistant experience.
More experienced candidates will have previous lecturing experience, evidence of curriculum development and preferably experience supervising Masters and/or PhD students.
Research:
An early career academic will have the basis of a solid research pipeline and a job market paper available.
More experienced candidates will already have a more established research programme and a proven research track record with quality publications and ideally also success in external funding bids).
Evidence of proactively pursuing external research income is desirable and/or evidence of securing or contributing to external research income is desirable.
