The firm is currently seeking a Legal Assistant to join its Intellectual Property Litigation group in the Vancouver office. This role supports several legal professionals and plays a key role in managing litigation processes, deadlines, and client service within a fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and manage detailed Bring Forward (BF) systems to ensure litigation deadlines are met
Prepare, serve, and file court documents in accordance with applicable court rules
Draft and prepare preliminary court filings
Arrange examinations for discovery and coordinate court bookings
Coordinate document workflows, including editing, compiling, printing, indexing, and binding large volumes of litigation materials (e.g., affidavits, application records, books of authorities)
Provide proactive administrative support to legal professionals by managing calendars, diarizing key dates, maintaining e‑filing systems, and flagging actionable items
Act as a first point of contact for clients and internal/external stakeholders, resolving issues professionally and efficiently
Maintain electronic workspaces and files within iManage
Complete file openings, including New Business Intake (NBI) and Know Your Client (KYC) requirements
Assist with the client billing process in collaboration with the Billing Coordinator
Support client and business development initiatives, including maintaining legal professional bios
Coordinate logistics for internal meetings, external client events, and professional associations
Develop strong working relationships with clients and colleagues while maintaining strict confidentiality and professionalism
Identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies
Perform other duties as assigned
Education & Experience
Minimum three years of litigation legal assistant experience required
Intellectual Property litigation experience strongly preferred
Knowledge & Skills
Familiarity with Federal Court and BC Supreme Court rules and procedures
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities
Proficiency with iManage and Microsoft Office
Strong time‑management and multitasking skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Sound judgment and analytical thinking
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high‑volume environment
Positive, professional attitude with resilience and initiative
Compensation
The anticipated salary range for this role is $60,000–$80,000 annually, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
Working Arrangement
This position follows a hybrid work model, requiring employees to work primarily in the Vancouver office, with flexibility to work remotely up to two days per week, subject to business needs.
