About the Role
We now have a fantastic opportunity for a passionate Library Technician – Systems to take ownership of the administration, optimisation and development of our Library Management System (LMS) and associated technologies.
Reporting to the Library Technology Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in supporting high‑quality library operations by:
Managing LMS administration, upgrades and enhancements
Overseeing cataloguing operations
Providing technical support and delivering staff training
Developing and maintaining system procedures and analytics
Liaising with the State Library, LMS providers and internal teams
This position sits within Library Services in the Library, Place and Culture Service Unit—supporting cohesive, innovative and community‑focused library experiences across the City.
About you
We’re seeking a proactive and solutions‑focused Library Technician with strong technical aptitude and a passion for enhancing digital library services. You’ll enjoy analysing problems, improving processes, and collaborating with staff across multiple library branches.
Besides demonstrated experience, you’ll need to have:
Recognised qualifications eligible for Technician membership of ALIA or equivalent
Strong understanding of library and information science principles
Demonstrated experience with Spydus or a similar LMS
Excellent communication, analytical and problem‑solving skills
Ability to develop procedures, deliver training and manage competing priorities
Commitment to customer service in a digital and technology‑rich environment

Salary and Benefits: Salary range from Level 5 Step 1 – Step 4 ($93,945.24 - $99,660.24) of the City of Cockburn Industrial Agreement 2025, based on qualifications and experience.
