Job description
Purpose/Objective
Lead – Value Engineering & Innovation (Civil & Structure) is responsible for identifying, developing, and deploying value engineering strategies specific to civil and structural engineering across projects and clusters.
This role designs structural standards, evaluates new materials and systems, and collaborates with BU teams, consultants, and vendors to integrate cost-effective, time-saving innovations.
It also ensures alignment of civil design practices with engineering lifecycle stages and facilitates knowledge sharing across similar asset typologies like airports, data centres, and real estate developments.
Key Responsibilities of Role
Technology Exploration in Civil & Structural Engineering: Continuously identify and evaluate new materials, structural systems, and construction techniques that can significantly reduce cost, time, or complexity in civil engineering projects across BUs.
Initiate trials and proof-of-concept pilots with selected vendors and assess fitment for projects based on constructability, scalability, and regulatory standards.
Design Standardization: Develop standardized templates, detailing references, and specification libraries for core structural components applicable across real estate, airports, and data centres.
Ensure that these standards are aligned with applicable codes and minimize site-level deviations by embedding them into tender documentation and project workflows.
Inter-BU Collaboration: Act as the civil discipline focal point across BUs to identify opportunities for cross-sharing of successful VE practices, promoting reuse and elimination of redundant design development.
Facilitate recurring forums or workshops where civil engineers from various businesses share project learnings and co-develop standardized tools.
Structural Design Integration: Align VE inputs with the engineering lifecycle stages, ensuring structural design maturity is achieved ahead of procurement and construction milestones.
Collaborate with project assurance and process teams to ensure timely delivery of good-for-construction (GFC) drawings, preventing rework and delays.
Vendor and Consultant Technical Evaluation: Lead interactions with civil design consultants, structural vendors, and third-party solution providers to evaluate their proposals through a structured technical lens.
Participate in shortlisting, contracting, and post-implementation reviews of civil engineering technology vendors.
Issue Resolution: Provide hands-on support to BU teams in solving technical design or execution issues arising on project sites, integrating field learnings into design improvement initiatives.
Capture and escalate recurring site challenges to inform group-level design standard updates.
Training and Knowledge Dissemination: Design and deliver capability-building programs for civil engineers across the group on topics like modular construction, load-optimized design, and life-cycle costing.
Publish internal case studies and best practices from past projects to continuously enhance the VE knowledge base.

Qualifications and Experience
Educational Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Work Experience: 7+ years of experience in structural design, BOQ preparation, or construction support Exposure to site-based execution or structural design coordination preferred Familiarity with drawing tools and technical documentation processes
