We are seeking a Trial Attorney to become a part of our team! You will represent clients in legal proceedings, draft legal documents and advise clients on legal transactions. Preferably, the right candidate will have experience with medical malpractice and/or elder abuse & neglect cases. Most importantly, we are looking for a candidate with strong writing skills and grit who is interested in heavy law and motion practice and has significant trial preparation and trial attorney skills. Willing to train the right candidate in substantive law.
This position requires familiarity with California Code of Civil Procedure filing requirements. The attorney is expected to aggressively draft discovery requests, meet and confer, and file motions to compel discovery. The attorney will work closely with paralegals to review and finalize our clients' discovery responses. The attorney will be responsible for defending client depositions and take depositions of key defense witnesses. The position also includes consulting with experts, advising clients, preparing complaints, attending and participating in mediation and settlement negotiations, and participating in overall case strategy in order to achieve optimal outcomes on each matter.
The firm will provide ample opportunities to learn the ins and outs of nursing home litigation in California as well as to improve litigation and trial skills.
The applicant will be well-versed in preparation of motions, oppositions to Demurrers Motions for Summary Judgment, Separate Statements, Statements of Damages and all aspects of litigation pleadings.
This is an active position for an experienced and congenial candidate.
Our attorneys and staff primarily work remotely with plans to maintain the work-at-home set-up for the foreseeable future. However, there is physical office space available for part- or full-time use in the Mid-Wilshire area. Non-trial work may be performed remotely, but this position will require travel for in-person hearings and trials primarily in Southern California but could include travel throughout the state. This role requires the candidate to be a self-starter and highly organized, and willing to take initiative.
