Locum Band 6 Biomedical Scientist
Location: Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Pontyclun, South Wales, CF72 8XR
Position Type: Locum (until 16th October 2026)
Pay Mechanism: Direct Pay
Pay Rates: £22 - £23 per hour

Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board is located in South Wales and provides healthcare services to a diverse population across several localities, including Merthyr Tydfil and Rhondda Cynon Taf. Established in 201+, it focuses on improving health outcomes and integrating services across hospitals and community care. The Health Board emphasizes collaboration with local communities to address health inequalities and enhance patient experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform Microtomy (target of approximately 30 blocks per hour).
• Conduct Embedding and possibly Quality Control tasks.
• Report directly to laboratory Team Leaders.
• Work collaboratively within the Cellular Pathology team.
Working Hours:
• Days: Monday to Friday
• Shift Hours: 08:30 AM to 5:00 PM (with potential earlier starts for specific tasks).
• Breaks: Includes a paid 30-minute break and an unpaid 1-hour lunch break.
Requirements:
• HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with relevant experience.
• Proven expertise in histopathology techniques.
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy laboratory environment.
