Entry Criteria for a Specialty Doctor:
A doctor appointed to this grade:
shall have full registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council (GMC);
And
shall have completed at least four years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a less than full-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme or specialty registrar locum appointment for training (LAT);
Or
shall have equivalent training, experience or competencies, either in the UK or overseas.
Applications are welcome for the above Fixed Term, /part time (24 hours per week) post based in Western General Hospital.
This post is a fixed term post for a suitably trained doctor with a specialist interest in Andrology who wishes to provide a high quality Urology service. The post holder will be a key member of the team delivering predominantly medical but also contributing to surgical andrology. They will be expected to deliver medical and surgical management of penile malignancy and post prostatectomy erectile dysfunction, as well as contributing to general urology and diagnostic activity. The post holder is expected to perform key andrological procedures independently, although initial mentorship will be offered in house.
Urology services are provided by the Lothian and Borders network which provides general and specialist urological services for a population of 850,000 across several sites centred on the unit at the
. In addition to St John’s Hospital, Livingston the network includes the Borders General Hospital Melrose and East Lothian Community Hospital, Haddington.
It is anticipated that the successful applicant will be based at the Western General Hospital but will also work across one or two other network sites.
