BRIEF POSTING DESCRIPTION:

The P IT TRAVELING MAINTENANCE Department of the P GENERATION Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 2 Bargaining Unit vacancy available. (Role: Non-Exempt)

JOB FUNCTION:

Installs and maintains power plant mechanical equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Performs operational or overhaul mechanical maintenance on power plant equipment such as pumps, turbines, compressors, fans and generators under direction or direct supervision, in accordance with skill level attained.
• Works from blueprints, sketches, instruction manuals and written or oral instructions.
• Installs new and reconditioned equipment.
• Aligns and balances all types of rotating equipment.
• Performs necessary rigging for assigned work.
• Works with electricians in dismantling, inspecting, and repairing generators, exciters and motors.
• Services and repairs lubricating oil systems.
• Uses and repairs all precision hand tools and power operated tools.
• Trains to perform and performs machining work under direction.
• Operates material handling equipment as required.
• Records a description of work completed.
• Directs the work of personnel in lower classifications on any or all of the above operations.
• Reports equipment problems that may be observed.
• Assume an emergency management role, as assigned, and perform specific assignments or functions, as needed, in an event of an emergency, not to include routine trouble calls/callouts.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Performs minor non-asbestos insulation removal incidental to the performance of maintenance tasks.
• Performs similar and incidental duties as required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must pass Company Written Job Knowledge Test.
• Graduate of applicable Hawaiian Electric Apprenticeship Program or equivalent training and experience.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver's license. Must meet the standards for required driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Required Driving Positions policy.

Work Schedule: Monday- Friday

Work Hours: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm

Lunch: 30 minutes
