Mainframe Database Administrator
In this role, you will be the DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) for Mainframe applications.
Candidate must have experience in (on-line and Batch) environment.
Preferably hands on DB2 Version 10 or later and having solid experience in the areas of Performance Tuning at all levels (Application, sub-system, Database).
As the DBA, you will conduct performance monitoring and tuning activities, backup and recovery as well as troubleshooting applications on DB2 databases.
In this position, you will also be providing DB2 DBA maintenance and development support of mainframe DB2 application databases in all environments (development, acceptance, and production).
• Based on applications' requirements perform all changes to DB2 databases in Test and Production environments.
• Implement and maintain Database backup and recovery strategy.
• Strong knowledge in DBID,OBID,PSID
• Strong Knowledge on DB2 Online and Stand-alone Utilities.
• Experience in database forward recovery, PIT and building secondary index. Knowledge in Backout method, checkpoint restart.
- Provide Production support - on-call 7x24.
• Provide troubleshooting and problem determination during outage or daily issues.
• Provide Performance tuning.
• Monitor space utilization.
• Support DR exercises.
• Maintain and Enforce Database standard and best practices
• Assist with testing and validation of database software upgrades (DB2 V11/V12).
• Administration of databases throughout the development and production lifecycles.
• Knowledge in Replication mechanism
• Automation knowledge, REXX would be an added advantage
• Excellent Communication Skills.
• Knowing other RDBMS is added advantage.
