Position Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and mechanically inclined individual to join our team as a Maintenance & Continuous Improvement Technician. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to work hands-on with equipment, tools, and infrastructure while also learning and applying Continuous Improvement (CI) principles to support operational efficiency. This is an ideal position for a self-starter who enjoys fixing, building, and improving processes in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Mechanical Duties (Primary):
Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on manufacturing equipment, hand tools, power tools, and facility systems.
Troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical issues on the production floor.
Support machine installation, relocation, and equipment upgrades as needed.
Maintain organized, safe, and clean workspaces across all maintenance-related areas.
Collaborate with outside contractors and vendors when necessary.
Assist with facility-related improvements (e.g., lighting, ventilation, shelving, etc.).
Project & General Support:
Support day-to-day operational needs including setup, teardown, fabrication, and special project work.
Assist supervisors and managers with facility upgrades, tooling improvements, and efficiency-related projects.
Participate in cross-functional teams working on plant improvement initiatives.
Continuous Improvement (Learning & Development):
Receive training on CI tools and principles such as 5S, Root Cause Analysis, Kaizen, and Standard Work.
Assist with data collection and basic analysis to identify waste and improvement opportunities.
Help implement CI projects aimed at increasing safety, quality, and productivity.
Support culture-building efforts around operational excellence and employee involvement.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in mechanical maintenance, millwright, or general facility maintenance (manufacturing experience is an asset).
Comfortable using hand and power tools; welding or light fabrication skills a plus.
Willingness to learn and apply Lean/CI concepts in a hands-on environment.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Reliable, organized, and able to work independently or with a team.
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or trades training is an asset.
