Job Description
Position Summary:
The Maintenance/Helper in a nursing home facility is responsible for assisting with the upkeep, repair, and safety of the building, equipment, and grounds. This role ensures a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
• General Maintenance & Repairs
• Perform routine maintenance tasks (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, minor HVAC repairs).
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders.
• Inspect equipment and systems regularly to ensure proper functioning.
• Safety & Compliance
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety codes and regulations.
• Maintain life safety equipment (fire extinguishers, emergency lights, sprinklers, exit signs).
• Report and correct any safety hazards immediately.
• Facility Upkeep
• Assist with moving furniture, equipment, and supplies.
• Maintain grounds including mowing, snow removal, and landscaping as needed.
• Perform preventive maintenance on facility systems and equipment.
• Resident & Staff Support
• Respond courteously to residents’ requests for repairs or adjustments.
• Support staff with equipment setup for activities, events, or medical needs.
• Ensure resident rooms and common areas remain safe and functional.
• Documentation & Communication
• Complete maintenance logs, reports, and inspection checklists.
• Communicate effectively with nursing, administration, and housekeeping departments.
• Assist vendors and contractors performing specialized work in the facility.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred).
• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC systems.
• Previous maintenance experience, preferably in healthcare or residential facilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Physical ability to lift, carry, climb, and perform manual tasks.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
