Management Accountant (3-5 Years)
The Management Accountant is responsible for preparing financial reports, analyzing data, and offering strategic advice to senior management. The role includes the creation of budgets, variance analysis, and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) to support effective decision-making, cost control, and performance improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):
- Develop detailed financial models and forecasts to support business planning and strategy.
- Assist in the preparation of the company’s annual budget and quarterly forecasts.
- Conduct variance analysis between actuals and budgeted figures, providing insights and recommendations to management.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial performance reports, including profit and loss, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
2. Cost Management & Control:
- Perform cost-benefit analyses to identify cost-saving opportunities and areas for improvement.
- Maintain cost allocation structures to ensure accurate reporting of financial data.
- Analyze product or service profitability and prepare reports on cost control and process improvement.
- Monitor and manage overhead expenses to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
3. Reconciliations & Reporting:
- Ensure the accuracy of financial records by performing reconciliations of key accounts, such as bank reconciliations, debtors, and creditors.
- Compile and present financial data in reports for internal stakeholders, including dashboards and other visual formats for decision-making.
- Work closely with the accounting team to ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closure.
4. Variance Analysis:
- Analyze variances between actual and budgeted financial performance.
- Investigate reasons for deviations and suggest corrective actions.
- Provide monthly management reports and presentations for senior executives, focusing on KPIs, financial ratios, and business metrics.
5. Strategic Advisory:
- Offer insights and strategic recommendations to improve financial performance and support key business decisions.
- Collaborate with various departments, including operations, sales, and marketing, to align financial objectives with business strategy.
- Provide financial input for new business initiatives, capital investments, and strategic projects.
6. Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements related to financial reporting (e.g., GST, income tax).
- Assist in the management of financial risks, including liquidity risks, credit risks, and market risks.
- Work with external auditors for statutory audits and ensure adherence to accounting standards (Ind AS/IFRS).
7. Systems & Process Improvement:
- Drive continuous improvement in financial reporting processes and internal controls.
- Lead the implementation of finance systems or software to streamline operations and improve data accuracy.
- Support ERP implementation and financial module customization based on business needs.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and financial modeling.
- Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Tally, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, etc.).
- Thorough knowledge of Indian accounting standards (Ind AS) and IFRS.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to interact with senior leadership.
- Attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Chartered Accountant (CA), or similar financial qualification preferred.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in management accounting, budgeting, or financial analysis.
Preferred Industry Experience:
- Experience in IT services, will be an advantage.
