About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Are Media's dynamic Are Direct team as a Management Accountant, where you'll play a crucial role in driving financial performance and strategic decision-making in the distribution business serving Are Media and 200 publisher clients.
Duties
Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports for the Are Direct division
Conduct variance analysis and provide commentary on financial performance against budget and forecasts
Support budget preparation and quarterly forecasting processes for direct-to-consumer operations
Analyse subscription revenue streams, customer acquisition costs, and lifetime value metrics
Monitor and report on key performance indicators specific to direct marketing campaigns
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
Prepare ad-hoc financial analysis to support strategic business decisions
Collaborate with marketing and operations teams to evaluate campaign profitability
Maintain and improve financial reporting systems and processes
Support external audit requirements and ensure compliance with accounting standards
Skills and experience
CA/CPA qualification or equivalent professional accounting qualification
3-5 years of management accounting experience, preferably in media, publishing, or subscription-based businesses
Strong Excel skills and experience with financial reporting systems
Solid understanding of management accounting principles and financial analysis
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication abilities with capacity to present financial information to non-finance stakeholders
Detail-oriented with high accuracy standards
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Collaborative approach with cross-functional teams
