In Budget 2026, the Government of Canada announced that PSP Investments would act as the independent and exclusive investment manager for the Canada Growth Fund (CGF) a $15 billion investment vehicle that was established to support the growth of Canada’s clean economy. As the investment manager of CGF, PSP Investments will provide the full suite of investment management services to CGF, covering the entire investment and asset management lifecycle.
ABOUT THE TEAM
Our Canada Growth Fund Investment Management team is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced technical expert to join our team as Manager, Canada Growth Fund Investment Management, as part of the investments team, leading technical due diligence out of our Calgary office.
The Canada Growth Fund Investment Management (CGFIM) Team is a new team created within PSP to manage the $15bn Canada Growth Fund. CGF’s mandate is to catalyze substantial private sector investment in Canadian low-carbon projects, technologies, businesses, and supply chains by deploying innovative funding structures that help mitigate certain risks and uncertainties inherent to investing in the low-carbon economy. CGF will be investing in Canadian projects and companies across themes such as carbon capture, hydrogen, renewable natural gas, clean technology, and critical minerals.

Size of team:
The team currently consists of approximately 30 professionals that support the execution of CGF’s mandate.
ABOUT YOUR ROLE
As a Manager, Canada Growth Fund Investment Management, you will be an important member of our investments team providing critical technical and commercial due diligence on prospective investments. You will be part of the investment team working closely with our investment professionals conducting technical economic assessments and assessing commercial potential of emerging technologies as part of our detailed due diligence process. This is a unique opportunity to participate in the potential scaling of Canadian companies by aiding in the deployment and management of CGF’s capital, helping shape the investment strategy and supporting the investments into emerging technologies.

Responsibilities include:
Performing preliminary analysis of investment opportunities against the CGF mandate
Conducting in-depth technical due diligence on prospective investments
Analyzing the technical and economic feasibility of emerging technologies
Assessing the market potential, scalability and competitive landscape for tech solutions
Providing technical expertise and insights to the investment team
Conducting research and analysis on macro trends in the climate tech sector
Identifying and evaluating emerging climate technologies
Contributing to the development of the investment theses and investment strategies
Supporting current portfolio companies with technical guidance and support
Leading the preparation of investment recommendation papers for internal approval
Cultivating a network of contacts within and outside of the investment & energy transition industries to assist with the identification and evaluation of investment opportunities
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Masters degree in Engineering or a related scientific field
Five (5) to ten (10) years of experience, preferably with a consulting firm
Strong understanding of economic drivers in emerging energy technologies
Experience with technical analysis and investment processes
Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills and the ability to communicate technical findings in a clear and persuasive manner
Intellectual curiosity and naturally self-motivated
Highly collegial, collaborative and supportive; comfortable with shared decision-making processes
