Manager, Commercial and Contracts at Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, WellingtonManager, Commercial and ContractsExperienced and inspiring people leader with a strong operational backgroundNew role to lead and develop the 'engine room' of our delivery functionFull time role based in Wellington or AucklandMo te tunga About the roleAs Manager, Commercial and Contracts, you will lead a team to implement and develop fit-for-purpose and legally sound commercial and contractual approaches in support of housing programmes, products, and tools.You will lead key system improvements, as well as drive efficiencies within current delivery on a broad range of outcomes across the housing spectrum.
You will develop and embed new practices to ensure your people are working effectively, specifically leading in a matrixed management environment, to deliver your team's expertise and resources across the group.This is a newly created management role where you will have five direct reports, who each lead teams across commercial development, contract management and compliance areas.As an effective manager you will:Drive good practice on housing solution development including commercial negotiation, and structuring contract development practices.Ensure sound investment decision-making processes and investment approval processes.Garner a high level of partner performance through engagement and contract management processes that deliver against targeted outputs and outcomes.Build and develop a new compliance and support team function.Develop strong connections across the group to best manage people and workflow.Ensure connection between on-the-ground activity and feeding into the development of national strategies, plans and settings.You will ensure your team is able to effectively advise and use their expertise across our group to develop mixed housing solutions within our place-based delivery approach.
This will mean ensuring the right people are working on the right deals in a flexible, responsive and inter-connected manner.You will work closely with our newly established national settings team, most specifically around investment decision making processes, ensuring the development of good practice, feedback loops and putting investment and procurement advice into practice.You will support the GM, Programmes and Contracts by providing visibility and solutions on issues and confidence around sound judgement.
You will develop strong relationships and a shared work programme approach with the three other managers in the Programmes and Contracts team and across the group.This role is in the Programmes and Contracts team, within HUD's Delivery group.The salary range for this role is $155,346 - $21+,312 + 3% Kiwisaver contribution.O wheako, o pukenga About youWe are looking for someone who can demonstrate excellent people leadership and experience in optimising workflow.
You will have a strong background in commercial practices including contract management with a practical and operational background.
You will have sound investment instincts, practical skills in making the complex simple, and a desire to improve systems and practices.Ideally your skills and experience will include:A practical and solutions focused approach.An understanding of government, particularly as it relates to housing.A track record of providing sound, trusted advice to senior leaders.Demonstrated leadership experience, particularly in developing capability and ensuring pace of delivery while leading on improvement programmes.Mo matou About usTe Tuapapa Kura Kainga reflects the intention of 'the foundation for a treasured home'.
