The role

As the Manager Investigations, you will form part of a dynamic team responsible for leading complex and sensitive WHS investigations, including workplace fatalities and serious incidents, and preparing high-quality prosecution briefs.

Drawing on your extensive regulatory and investigative experience, you will play a vital role in delivering strong enforcement outcomes and improving workplace safety. Your leadership skills and experience in regulatory investigations and compliance will be key to your success in this role.

You will bring to the team your expertise in managing complex investigations and preparing briefs of evidence, along with your ability to lead teams, provide expert advice, and engage effectively with stakeholders.

This role also involves coaching and mentoring staff, contributing to policy and legislative initiatives, and supporting a positive team culture, while managing exposure to sensitive and confronting matters with professionalism and resilience.

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the department for the next 12 months, from the date that the recruitment breach period has been finalised.


Eligibility

To be eligible for a permanent appointment, applicants must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia at the time of application. Applicants with a valid visa to work and live in Australia for a specific duration may be assessed and considered suitable for similar fixed term vacancies that arise.

Qualifications obtained outside of Australia must be provided with an assessment from the Overseas Qualifications Unit to ensure they meet Australian Standards (this is a free service).

To work for LGIRS, you must consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a clearance before you start. If deemed suitable, LGIRS will coordinate and pay for your NCCHC as part of your pre-employment checks.

Relevant experience in work, health and safety, equivalent to a diploma or higher qualification of work, health and safety.

Demonstrated experience in providing leadership, guidance and coaching of a high-performance team to achieve strategic objectives and cultural change.
