Job Summary
As the Manager of the Medical Coding BPO team, you will be responsible for overseeing the operations and performance of the medical coding department. You will lead a team of medical coders and ensure accurate and timely coding of medical records, adherence to coding guidelines and regulations, and efficient workflow management. Your role will involve coordination with clients, process improvement, quality assurance, and team management.
Responsibilities
• Manage and supervise a team of medical coders, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
• Ensure compliance with coding guidelines, industry regulations, and client requirements.
• Oversee the coding process to ensure accurate assignment of diagnostic and procedural codes based on medical records and documentation.
• Develop and implement coding policies, procedures, and quality control measures.
• Coordinate with clients to understand their coding requirements and address any concerns or issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as medical billing, clinical documentation improvement, and compliance, to optimize the coding process.
• Monitor and analyse coding productivity and accuracy metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to enhance efficiency.
• Conduct regular audits and quality assurance reviews to ensure coding accuracy and adherence to coding guidelines.
• Stay updated with changes in coding regulations, industry trends, and best practices, and ensure the team is trained accordingly.
• Resolve escalated coding issues and provide support in complex coding cases.
• Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork, professional growth, and employee engagement.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in science. Certification in medical coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) is must.
• Overall experience of >12 years in the medical coding industry.
• In-depth knowledge of medical coding systems (e.g., ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) and coding guidelines (e.g., ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting).
• Familiarity with healthcare documentation, medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance in medical coding, such as HIPAA and CMS guidelines.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret medical records and make accurate coding decisions.
• Proficient in using coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Effective leadership and team management abilities, with the capability to motivate and mentor team members.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with clients, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
• Detail-oriented mindset, with a focus on accuracy and quality in coding practices.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
12. Have prior experience handling 200-250 team members.
