About the opportunity
Working with the Director Revenue and our Senior Leadership Team you will lead your team to:
Deliver high-quality analysis and advice on transport revenue systems
Develop and support the passage of primary and secondary legislation
Approach policy from a first principles perspective, applying structured frameworks to support advice to the Minister
Improve the quality of advice through coaching and mentoring of staff
Engage across agencies, with stakeholders, and with the Minister to build support for changes, ensure they can be implemented, and achieve the Government’s objectives.
Support the Ministry’s wider policy quality standards, through involvement in our Policy Quality working group.
Based on the work or support that may be required, this position is Wellington based only.
What you’ll bring
You will need the following:
Extensive experience in providing complex policy advice to Ministers, including through Cabinet and Parliamentary processes
Exemplary stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills – internally and externally (cross government, ministers and their offices, parliament)
Proven ability to lead policy projects and programmes with a focus on high standards and delivery, from inception to implementation
Previous experience in building and leading a high performing team
Tertiary qualification in a relevant field is essential (e.g. Economics, Public Policy, Law).
Salary range
The base salary for this position is from $171,286 with a mid-point of $189,779 per annum (+ KiwiSaver). The salary offered will reflect skills and experience.
