Job Description
United is a centrifuge manufacturing and service company located in the Foothills Industrial Park of SE Calgary. The Machinist will report directly to the Shop Manager & President.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Measuring & machining larger parts (20” + diameter)
Experience with large manual lathes would be ideal.
Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics
Measure, examine and test completed parts to detect defects and ensure conformance to UCMFG’s specifications and tolerances using precision instruments such as micrometers.
Set up, adjust and operate all the basic machining tools and many specialized tools
Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools and materials onto the machine.
Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings and engineering information to determine methods and sequence of operations.
Select the appropriate tools/fixtures and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.
Clean and lubricate machines, tools and equipment.
· Assist with preparing quotes for customers
· Request parts & services for equipment repair.
· Diligent record keeping
· Participation in safety program.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills:
· Experience with manual machines including large manual lathes would be an asset.
· Excellent organizational, multitasking and planning skills
· Pays close attention to detail
· Experience with forklifts, slings, overhead cranes
· Self-motivated and able to prioritize
· Trustworthy & reliable
