Material Handler
Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, this role will involve verification, labelling and counting of physical inventories in the plant. The incumbent will issue, allocate materials to the operators in the plant. This role is also responsible for re-locating materials and ingredient to the proper and appropriate locations as specified on the respective items: allergens, ambient and refrigeration class as stipulated. The ideal candidate must follow all GMP procedures and policies up to and including proper cleaning and sanitation of the cooler, freezers, and trailers.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Transferring packaging material between warehouse and production lines.
· Provide support on production line as needed
· Performing all functions for maintaining inventory accuracy; investigating and reporting discrepancies where required
· Keeping appropriate records and reports to ensure tight inventory control and security are maintained
· Operating a forklift and walk-behind pallet truck to load, ship, sort, move, locate, relocate, stack, restack and count materials
· Maintain accountability for the safe and efficient operation of the forklift and comply with all applicable safety rules and SOPs
· Ensuring proper stock rotation, returning, and organizing unused products to its appropriate location
· Working with QA and Team Leaders on quantity and quality deviations
· Comply with all food safety regulations outlined by the Quality Department for all raw materials and finished goods
· Work with the Replenish Team to ensure appropriate inventory levels are available for production.
· Ensuring goods transactions are accurate and free of damage; reporting quality variances where applicable
· Efficiently stacking and storing merchandise in appropriate areas
· Responsible for maintaining a clean, neat, and orderly work area including the cooler and freezer
· Ensure that operations are conducted in a manner that promotes health and safety
· Comply with OSHA and MSDS Standards
· Supporting shipping and receiving operations as needed
· Participate in special projects/assignments when needed
· Identify and report discrepancies and report to Supervisor immediately
· Organize raw material returns to storage warehouses
· Provide management with inventory updates during daily meetings
· Update stock location slots on excel, to ensure items are easily located by plant staff.
Education, Experience & Competency Requirements:
· High School Diploma or equivalent experience required
· 1-3 years of inventory control experience
· Candidate must be able to drive all types of forklifts including reach, SC, walkie, pallet stacker, order picker, and must have a valid license
· Good computer skills with barcode scanner experience
· Basic math skills
· Excellent organizational, interpersonal skills
· Knowledge of good manufacturing practices (GMP) and HACCP program
· Flexible and adaptable in a complex, changing environment
· Strong attention detail and demonstrate high level of accuracy in tasks
· Able to work independently and as part of a team
· Must be able to read, write, perform basic arithmetic and computer skills
· Able to lift/carry/push/pull and or stack boxes up to 50 lbs.
· Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time
· Willingness to work in variable temperature environments (hot and cold)
· Ability and availability to work irregular or extended hours including weekends and potentially holidays as required
