Job description
Do you have a vision of how inpatient services should be delivered? Do you have the enthusiasm to lead the inpatient teams to ensure the woman and her family have the best possible experience? If your answer is yes then the perfect opportunity has arisen for you.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the senior leadership team at Saint Mary's Wythenshawe as Matron for Inpatient services . The role will include working across the MCS with Matrons for Inpatient Services at Oxford Road and North Manchester.

If you are an experienced, highly motivated midwife with management experience and a vast knowledge of Inpatient Services this could be the role for you.

Maternity Services at Saint Mary's Hospital provide women living in Manchester, Trafford, Salford, the North West and beyond with primary, secondary and tertiary obstetric services. Saint Mary's is renowned both regionally and nationally for its research, clinical fetal and maternal medicine services with a very complex patient population.

There is an established midwifery team delivering care to high and low risk women and a multidisciplinary team comprising of obstetricians, midwives, anaesthetists, Neonatologists and physicians providing care to women with specialist fetal and maternal medical needs.

You will need to be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a driving passion and determination to support the senior midwifery team in line with the exciting national picture of care and compassion, as well as a local picture of quality improvement. The successful candidates will need to have good knowledge and skill base of both midwifery clinical practice and local leadership.

In this role you will lead a team of midwives and develop practice as a midwifery expert; providing advice and leadership to colleagues in the organisation and working in partnership with a range of other agencies.

You will be resilient and able to manage complex situations as well as being well organised and innovative. A proven track record of supporting change processes, coupled with good influencing and negotiation skills are key attributes required for these posts in order to provide an integrated and effective service focusing on the delivery and assurance of safe, high quality patient care across our services.

In this key role you will work closely with the Deputy Head of Midwifery and the Head of Midwifery. You will also contribute to the 24 hour senior midwifery oncall rota across the 3 sites.
