Job Summary
The Mechanic II is responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy equipment and vehicles in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
This position supports the Construction team and works closely with personnel within the department to ensure quality of repairs and service.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect and repair company equipment, including pickup trucks, line trucks, trailers, mini excavators, backhoes, compressors, and generators.
Perform road tests and operational checks of vehicles and equipment to ensure quality of repairs and service.
Place orders for required parts, materials, and supplies as needed.
Prepare and maintain records and reports.
Monitor prioritized projects, activities, and assignments to ensure completion of deadlines.
Maintain tools, supplies, and workstations in a clean, safe, and presentable manner.
Provide support and training for Mechanic I.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver's license.
3 years of experience in vehicle and equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and diagnostics.
Knowledge of safety guidelines and procedures.
Ability to perform tune-ups, brake jobs (hydraulic), and basic wiring.
Basic diesel and drive train experience.
Ability to use cutting torch and basic welding skills.
Knowledge of minor heavy equipment repairs.
Preferred Qualifications
4 or more years of experience.
DOT Certified Flagger.
CDL Class A license.
Work Environment
This job operates in a field environment, requiring extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting.
