Job Description
What You’ll Do:
Media Preparation:
Prepare sterile media using autoclaves, mediaclaves, Sterilize in Place (SIP) reactors and other sterilization technologies.
Dispensing:
Weigh, sterilize, and dispense media into various containers (plates, flasks, bottles) using automated liquid handlers and peristaltic pumps, following SOPs and job aids.
Aseptic Techniques:
Apply sterile and aseptic handling techniques throughout all processes.
Quality Control:
Perform quality checks on prepared media, including streaking plates, measuring pH, and inspecting for contamination via microscopy.
Workflow Management:
Follow established workflows for scheduling, weighing, preparation, and dispensing to ensure timely media delivery.
Inventory Management:
Monitor inventory levels and order necessary chemicals and consumables.
Documentation:
Accurately record experimental results and process data in electronic lab notebooks and internal reports.
Troubleshooting:
Identify, flag, and assist in troubleshooting process deviations and contamination events.
Process Improvement:
Participate in projects aimed at enhancing laboratory operations and efficiency – these include better tracking of lab metrics, more efficient data capture and visualization and assisting in meeting mid- and long-term operational efficiency goals for the lab.
What Skills You Need:
Associate or bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field is required.
Experience with aseptic techniques (e.g., pipetting sterile media, pouring agar plates, working in biosafety cabinets or laminar flow hoods) is preferred.
Experience with operating Sterilize in Place (SIP) bioreactors is a plus.
Proficiency with MS Excel; experience with statistical analysis tools (e.g., JMP) preferred.
Self-motivated, able to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
