We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities
• Review medical records and documentation to assign appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes
• Ensure accurate coding of diagnoses, procedures, and services in compliance with healthcare regulations and payer requirements
• Prepare and submit clean claims using electronic health record (EHR) or electronic medical record (EMR) systems to insurance companies for reimbursement
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection practices
• Maintain detailed and organized medical records, ensuring all billing information is current and compliant with privacy standards
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation discrepancies or coding ambiguities
• Stay updated on changes in medical coding standards, billing regulations, and insurance policies to ensure ongoing compliance
Requirements
• Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a healthcare setting
• Strong knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding systems, and DRG classifications
• Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation standards
• Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for billing and record keeping
• Excellent understanding of medical billing processes, including claim submission and follow-up procedures
• Ability to interpret complex medical records accurately and assign appropriate codes efficiently
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
Preferred qualifications include experience with medical office operations, proficiency in medical coding software tools, and familiarity with insurance claim regulations. Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent is highly desirable.
