Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately coding medical records and ensuring that billing processes are efficiently managed. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and the ability to work with electronic medical records (EMR) and electronic health records (EHR).

Duties

Review and analyze patient medical records to ensure accurate coding using ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, and DRG methodologies.
Process medical billing and collections in compliance with healthcare regulations.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, coding guidelines, and insurance policies.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses and procedures as needed.
Utilize EMR and EHR systems to input, track, and manage patient information effectively.
Ensure the accuracy of medical records by performing regular audits and updates as necessary.
Assist in resolving any discrepancies or issues related to billing or coding with insurance companies or patients.
Qualifications

Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a healthcare setting is preferred.
Proficiency in ICD coding (ICD-9 and ICD-10) and CPT coding is essential.
Familiarity with DRG classifications is a plus.
Strong understanding of medical terminology and medical office procedures.
Experience with EMR/EHR systems is highly desirable.
Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills for effective interaction with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance representatives.
