The Fleet Street Clinic is a long established, independent, and multidisciplinary clinic offering a range of private medical and healthcare services to individual patients and corporate clients.The clinic has pioneered use of point-of-care PCR testing in a patient-facing setting, which we have been able to offer since 2016. Our service has expanded considerably in the face of demand for rapid coronavirus PCR diagnosis, and over the past 2 years we have developed state-of-the-art lab with several PCR testing platforms in use.We specialise in providing rapid PCR testing for private patients and for our corporate clients on bespoke projects within the film, entertainment, and media industries. We are also working to expand our portfolio of other in-house medical diagnostic tests, notably relating to women’s health and ****** health.An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time Medical Laboratory Assistant to join the team in our newly built and UKAS accredited facility.This is a clinic-based role for 20 hours per week, including evening shifts and occasional weekend cover. It would suit someone currently working for a higher degree in a relevant medical or biomedical subject.Responsibilities and duties:Carry out a range of routine technical and clerical duties for sample testingThe successful candidate will be required to work to the laboratories UKAS laboratory standards and support the clinics Biomedical Scientist to prepare documentation for meetings or accreditation purposes.Day-to-day activities will include processing of samples following written procedures, data input, reagent and equipment management, handling laboratory queries and record keeping.There will be opportunity to support laboratory-based projects including POCT testing, quality improvement and safety.Receive, identify and prepare for incoming samples for analysisEntering the data from request forms accurately on the laboratory IT systemFollow laboratory Standard Operating ProceduresLiaising with our corporate team to coordinate testing needsMaintain agreed stock levels within the laboratoryAssist in maintaining high standards of lab procedures and trainingAssist generally in the Clinic as needed.The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:BSc in a biological science subject as a minimum.Experience and knowledge in working in an accredited laboratory with project management skills, IT proficiency, flexibility and the ability to organise your own work will be considered an advantage.Highly Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and OutlookJob Types: Part-time, PermanentSalary: £21,000.00-£25,000.00 per yearApplication question(s):Have you had the vaccines normally recommended for healthcare workers in the UK, including MMR Hepatitis B and Covid-1+?Education:Bachelor's (required)Experience:UK Medical Lab Assistant: 1 year (preferred)Work authorisation:United Kingdom (required)Work Location: One locationReference ID: MLA-PT
