Interior Health is seeking an experienced and dynamic Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our Medical Laboratory Department at Penticton Regional Hospital in Penticton, BC. About the Job
Penticton Regional Hospital is a referral centre for three community hospitals and one diagnostic centre in the South Okanagan. Our Emergency department sees upwards of 36k visits and we have 12+ acute beds and 102 extended care beds and offer a full range of health services to the community.
Medical Laboratory Assistants perform a variety of duties such as taking blood and specimen samples from patients, preparing blood and other specimens for analysis, performing routine lab tests, distributing specimens to departments and outside Labs, operating related equipment, entering data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and performing related clerical duties and ECG testing as required.
This is a Relief Full Time (1.0) opportunity until the return of the incumbent.
Shifts of work will be scheduled rotating days, evenings and nights.

Grade 12, successful completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program, plus one year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Canadian Driver’s License as required by position
Ability to type 25 WPM 5 minute invigilated typing test dated within the past 48 months from an approved institution. Please note we do not accept self-administered online tests
