MERC- Impact Research Faculty
Role Description
Muktangan requires passionate teacher educators to sustain and grow its best practices on classroom pedagogy. What started as a community education model within a network of 7 municipal schools in Mumbai, is now attempting to transform (through partnerships) other mainstream schools across the country. The teacher education team currently compromises of more than 80 practitioners, many of them being members of the community who have grown with the organization. Nationally recognized for its classroom innovations, Muktangan continues to offer all its employees a culture of empowerment and continuous learning. Key Responsibilities
A. Research Design and Implementation
• Collaboratively decide on research topics that potentially highlight the key processes and impacts of Muktangan
• Develop relevant research proposals and float the same with reputed Universities/Ph.D. scholars
• Identify and strike alliances with research partners including writing proposals to seek funding
• Drive the implementation and dissemination of selected projects using a range of methods of data collection both quantitative and qualitative (focus group discussions, questionnaires, surveys, classroom observations and ongoing literature review)
• Analysis of findings from data gathered and writing reports to present them
• Develop recommendations and policy guidelines for educators and administrators based on findings of the research study. The Research Faculty will have additional responsibility to represent Muktangan at relevant conferences and seminars
B. Monitoring and Impact Assessment
• Assistance in designing base lines and setting of pilot project goals
• Design assessment systems that seamlessly track and report the achievement of objectives
• Building the capacity of practitioners to collect, analyse and reflect on data generated
• Identify and liaison with outside assessment agencies
• Liasion with interested outside researchers and those providing fresh insights
• Identify agencies and develop automated tools to collect, analyse and archive data
• Following a strict code of ethics and always protecting any confidential information.
In this role the Research Faculty is expected to conduct Internal Programme Assessment in the following areas
Students
• Analysis of student holistic learning from student tracking
• Analysis of student assessment
Teachers
• Analysis of classroom observation results process
• Analysis of appraisal data
• Analysis of teacher attendance and attrition rates
Parents
• Focus group discussions to assess current satisfaction levels
• Attendance at PTMs
Alumni
• Analysis of questionnaires and F.G.Ds to assess perceived usefulness of programme and gaps
• Fine tuning of MIS systems to provide required data
C. Organisational Responsibilities
Involves continuously researching emerging trends in the sector and attempting to enhance the network with institutions that are aligned to the Muktangan vision to promote an engaged & inclusive classroom experience.
The Research Faculty will be responsible to
• Design avenues to advocate Muktangan’s value proposition in a responsible way across different forums like seminars, paper presentations, social media etc.
Required Competencies
• Ability to communicate effectively to achieve department goals and function in a fast-paced environment with a mature approach.
• Strong statistical and mathematical aptitude.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Proven experience in a research field.
• Sound understanding of research methodologies.
• Proficient in Information, Communication, Technology (ICT)
• Attention to detail and exceptional written, verbal, and telephonic communication skills
Educational Qualifications
• Masters/Ph.D. in Social Sciences
• Background in educational research will be preferred
Remuneration:
• Salary shall be at par with industry standards.
