Job Description
As a Store Assistant, you will play an integral role in the daily operations of the store. You will be responsible for supporting the team, maintaining store presentation, ensuring stock availability, and delivering efficient and friendly service to customers.
The store operates from 8:30 am to 9:00 pm, Monday to Sunday. The successful candidate will be guaranteed a minimum of 30 hours per week, rostered between these operating hours. We offer hourly wage between $24 to $27, depending on skills and experience.
Key Responsibilities
Greet customers and assist them in locating items such as spices, lentils, rice, and specialty products
Receive, unpack, and check deliveries from suppliers
Stock shelves ensuring items are neatly arranged and properly labelled
Keep shelves, aisles, and storage areas clean and organised
Rotate stock (FIFO) and monitor expiry dates, especially for perishable goods and inform the manager when stock levels are low
Operate the cash register/POS system, issue receipts and handle basic billing queries
Ensure hygiene standards are maintained, especially around food items
Assist in setting up displays for promotions or seasonal items
Weigh and pack loose items such as rice, flour, or spices as directed
Label products correctly with price and details
Assist with opening and closing the store
Follow store policies and health & safety guidelines
Support other staff and management as needed
Requirements for the role:
Previous experience in a retail or similar environment is preferred but not essential
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting
Reliable, well-organised, and proactive with a strong work ethic
Flexible availability, including weekends and public holidays
Familiarity with Indian grocery products (e.g., spices, lentils, flours, snacks) is advantageous
