The Role
The Construction Trades GP department is seeking a full-time sessional Millwright Instructor. This role will give the successful candidate the opportunity to instruct in a number of periods of training provided by NWP, sharing their passion for their trade in both the classroom and the lab.
Job Requirements
The successful candidate will have a Journeyperson Red Seal Certificate in Instrumentation Control Technician and five (5) years of industry experience. Additional certification in Instrumentation Engineering Technology diploma is preferred. Neccessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:
Candidates must be able to apply different instructional strategies to meet the needs of students with different learning styles.
Knowledge of Northwestern Polytechnic courses and current educational technologies commonly found in classrooms (ex. video conferencing, D2L) are desired.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
An entrepreneurial spirit, specifically one who is willing to take risk to create opportunities.
Highly qualified faculty who seek to continuously improve instruction and meet the needs of learners.
Willingness to work with and support the Teaching and Learning Centre.
Student focused.
Willingness to work with and support recruitment.
Strong organizational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build strong relationships across the organization.
A high level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
Candidates must be professionals who have strong communication, planning, and goal setting skills; be flexible; confident; a team player; and are committed to student motivation and achievement. Teaching experience would be an asset.
