Job Summary
The Mining Chemist is responsible for analyzing mineral samples, conducting chemical tests, and ensuring the quality and composition of ores and minerals extracted during mining operations. This role supports production efficiency, environmental compliance, and product quality by providing accurate analytical data and insights into mineral content.
Responsibilities:
· Perform chemical tests and analyses on raw materials, finished products, and samples to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
· Operate and maintain laboratory instruments such as ICP-OES, AAS, titrators, and pH meters.
· Prepare and standardize chemical reagents, solutions, and test samples.
· Record, analyze, and interpret data with accuracy, ensuring proper documentation of results.
· Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) to maintain quality assurance.
· Conduct research and development for new formulations, materials, and product improvements.
· Identify and troubleshoot laboratory issues, including instrument calibration and method validation.
· Adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations while handling hazardous chemicals and materials.
· Assist in writing technical reports, quality control procedures, and regulatory documentation.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, and R&D departments.
Requirements:
· Graduate degree in Chemistry with adequate experience in the analysis and testing of relevant products.
· Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a laboratory environment, preferably in mining or industrial sectors.
· Strong knowledge of laboratory instruments, test methods, and chemical safety.
· Familiarity with ISO, ASTM, or other international testing standards.
· Attention to detail, accurate data recording, and good analytical skills.
· Proficiency in MS Office and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
· Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
· Willing to work shifts and extended hours if required.
