• The Integrations team of BizTech manages integrations and APIs across various SaaS products and internal systems. A Senior Systems Engineer within this team focuses on building and managing automations, APIs and integrations, and managing Integration platforms. They work closely with fellow Integrations team members, partner teams and engineering teams to integrate SaaS products and build custom solutions.

The Difference You Will Make

As an Integration Engineer at Airbnb, you play a pivotal role in shaping and enhancing our API ecosystem and critical SaaS integrations across the enterprise. Working alongside stakeholders from various departments, you ensure that data flows seamlessly and synchronously between different applications, facilitating automated and world-class integrations. Together with your team, you manage platforms like MuleSoft, Tray, and bespoke in-house solutions, mentoring junior engineers in crafting reliable integrations and services. Your mission is to architect and implement the future of system integrations at Airbnb, ensuring they can scale with our growth. You will be responsible for a wide array of essential integrations, overseeing multiple projects and sharing responsibility for our integration landscape with your team. You’re expected to be comfortable with ambiguity, independently finding solutions, and engaging in discussions to weigh and articulate the pros and cons of various problem-solving strategies. Ready to tackle complex challenges head-on, you'll play a key role in evolving our integration strategy, setting new standards for excellence and innovation.

A Typical Day
• Together with the team, take ownership of a diverse catalog of system integrations and integration platforms.
• Architect and build integrations, backend services, and APIs to connect various systems and automate processes.
• Drive cross-functional initiatives and collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their pain points, requirements, impact, and timelines, and present them with design and effort analysis.
• Collaborate within your team to review the designs and code of team members, and to have your design and code reviewed, giving and receiving feedback.
• Support the production operations of the integrations.
• Document designs and runbooks, and Participate in the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Your Expertise
• 8+ years of industry experience and 3+ years of MuleSoft architecture and full life cycle implementation experience from requirements gathering/analysis to Go-Live and Post production support.
• Expertise in designing and implementing integrations and APIs with Mulesoft, adept at developing Java programs from the ground up, experienced in utilizing both REST and SOAP APIs, and skilled in working with relational databases alongside strong SQL proficiency.
• Comfortable tackling ambiguous problems, unblocking oneself, discussing problem-solving approaches, and articulating trade-offs.
• Experience integrating a portfolio of SAAS applications and knowledgeable of securing data; understands PGP, SSH, OAuth, HTTPS, SFTP
• Experience with data streaming and with messaging infrastructure and storage.
• Experience using Anypoint Platform (API Manager, Runtime Manager, Exchange) and Runtime fabric.
• Experience with Github version control, CI/CD, AWS System Operations and with with Agile development
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and eager to take accountability and ownership of systems, integrations and processes.
• Have a strong desire to mentor the careers and development of other engineers
• Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills.
• BS in Computer Science / MIS or equivalent work-related experience
• Experience with Infrastructure deploy tools such as Chef and Terraform is a big plus
