About BlackRock US Municipals Group
The Municipal Fixed Income business in BlackRock’s Portfolio Management Group is one of the largest managers of municipal securities in the industry with over $15+ billion of assets under management. The platform offers a broad array of investment choices including mandates focused on both taxable and tax-exempt bonds. BlackRock seeks a Gurgaon-based Analyst to join its Municipal Primary Markets Group. The analyst will have close daily interaction with a variety of investment professionals on the Municipals, Data Integrity, Legal and Compliance, and Trade Operations teams globally.
Position Overview:
The responsibilities of a Municipals Primary Markets Analyst include:
Coordinate BlackRock’s participation in new issue (primary market) municipal bond transactions from portfolio managers across the US Municipals platform
Communicate orders to investment banking counterparties in a professional manner with the goal of achieving the best possible allocations for our clients
Organize and maintain a centralized database of pertinent new issue information, including data sourced from both internal and external sources
Conduct relative value analysis on public issuers of municipal debt to uncover investment opportunities in the primary market
Build partnerships and strong working relationships with analysts, portfolio managers and other internal BlackRock stakeholders, serving as a resource and an ambassador of the Municipal Group in the APAC region
Develop contacts with sell-side traders, salespeople and underwriters focused on the US Public Finance market
Contribute to regular team meetings and prepare written commentary on the municipal market
Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in a relevant field
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
1-3 years US fixed income market experience; knowledge of the municipal bond market preferred
Ability to work during times that overlap with financial markets hours in eastern US (approximately 13:00-22:00 IST) and provide for seamless handoff of daily tasks with US-based counterparts
Strong technical skills including knowledge of SQL, Python, VBA, R, or other programming languages
Mastery of MS Excel required; experience with Bloomberg and Aladdin preferred
Proven experience working both independently and as part of a team in a highly collaborative, global environment
