As a school committed to the development of the whole child, Villa Academy welcomes applicants for its Music Educator and Performing Arts Coordinator (“Coordinator”) opportunity. In this vital role, the Coordinator guides and supports the school’s visual and performing arts programming. In addition to teaching four Middle School (5th-8th grade) Music courses, the Coordinator provides a vision for Villa’s performing arts program, supports curricular development and innovation, contributes to strategic initiatives, and advocates for the arts at Villa both internally and externally. They oversee all co-curricular performing arts programming, including annual concerts, musical productions, and arts-related events. The Coordinator should know, appreciate, and enjoy working with preschool through middle school students and be well-versed in their learning and development. They will build genuine connections with students, families, faculty, and staff, supporting Villa’s commitment to delivering an exceptional arts education for its students.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Teach four (4) Middle School Music courses each semester
• Develop and update Middle School Music Curriculum in accordance with Villa Academy’s mission, and in alignment with Common Core and Learning for Justice standards
• Develop and lead the Villa Band program
• Serve as Middle School Advisor as needed
• Assess, evaluate, and provide feedback on student performance
• Serve as the public face of the arts at Villa, promoting and advocating for all arts programs
• Work closely with Villa’s Music faculty, encouraging and supporting curricular development and ongoing program evaluation
• Inspire innovation and collaboration across disciplines and divisions
• Assist in the annual performing arts budgeting process and oversight of the relevant budgets
• Coordinate and manage the performing arts calendar and events (practices, musicals, concerts, holiday programs, other performances, field trips, etc.), to be set by September of each academic year
• In partnership with the Director of Teaching and Learning for Inquiry and Equity, coordinate Music faculty professional development
• Coordinate monthly Specialist Spotlight newsletter
• Oversee and manage theater productions, including but not limited to:
• Collaborate on the selection of theater productions to be proposed to the Academic Leadership Team
• Support theater director with performance needs
• Partner with Villa’s Technology and Facilities Departments to confirm all productions have the proper and necessary equipment for success
• Communicate clearly, kindly, productively, and effectively with families
• Commit to the mission, vision, and values of Villa Academy

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred.
• Knowledge of, and experience with, applying inquiry-based learning in arts educational settings.
• Appreciation and enjoyment of preschool through middle school students and an understanding of their learning and development.
• A willingness and enthusiasm for elevating Villa Academy’s Arts program.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Skill with using instructional technology effectively, including interactive whiteboards, document cameras, Google Apps for Education, and integrated student information systems.
• Positive energy and enthusiasm for working in a preschool through eighth grade, faith-based independent school.
• A commitment to ongoing professional growth, curiosity, cultural humility, and antiracism, as well as an understanding of its critical role in academic excellence and student growth.

SALARY RANGE AND BENEFITS:

The anticipated salary range for this position is $54,900.85–$126,246.40 annually , in accordance with the Villa Academy Faculty Salary Scale and based on education and experience.
