Are you a strategic, scientifically credible account manager who connects stakeholders, turns ideas into pragmatic programs, and advocates for patients in complex care pathways? If so, Alexion may be the right fit for you.

This new Sydney or Melbourne based permanent opportunity at Alexion offers the chance to directly influence patient access and clinical practice in paediatric oncology. Significant national activation and clear account plans are in place—you will scale proven models and help elevate care nationally. With a strong pipeline in rare disease, this role offers scope to grow as indications expand and as the team evolves with future products.

About AstraZeneca & Alexion Rare Disease:
AstraZeneca is a global, science-led biopharmaceutical company transforming treatment across Oncology, CVRM, Respiratory & Immunology and Rare Disease.

Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease is dedicated to advancing care for people living with rare diseases. We work alongside clinicians to support appropriate access and redefine what is possible for patients and their families.

What you’ll do:
As the National Account Manager for Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1), you’ll report to the Franchise Head and drive national account strategy — building KOL advocacy, promoting to healthcare providers, and executing strategic, cross-functional account plans with an omnichannel, partnership-led approach.

Operating across expert centres and referral networks, you’ll translate opportunities and field insights into scalable programs that streamline access and elevate care for patients in need, while contributing to strategy within the close-knit, multidisciplinary brand team.

Key responsibilities include:

Deliver national objectives: Achieve targets through focused execution across priority accounts.

Lead strategic account planning: Develop and implement cross-functional plans tailored to small patient populations.

Expand advocacy and networks: Identify and develop KOLs; build long-term relationships with expert centres, referring hospitals, and HCPs.

Translate insights into action: Analyze indication and market data to set priorities and drive concrete initiatives.

Execute compliant promotion and education: Run local programs; brief speakers; engage across physical, virtual, and digital channels.

Drive partnership projects: Initiate and manage collaborations with internal/external stakeholders to improve care pathways.

Maintain operational excellence: Manage CRM, documentation, budget allocation, and governance/SOP adherence.

Represent the brand externally: Attend conferences to deepen therapy knowledge, gather insights, and strengthen HCP relationships; travel nationally as required.

Essential for the role:
Minimum 5 years Biotechnology/Pharmaceutical Key Account Management experience with proven results in hospital/specialty care.

Strong scientific literacy; able to translate complex neurology/oncology data.

Demonstrated KOL development and multidisciplinary stakeholder influence across paediatric centres.

Developing focused account plans, prioritisation and omnichannel execution; resilient, proactive, collaborative.

Operational excellence (CRM, budgeting, documentation, governance) with familiarity with Medicines Australia Code of Conduct.

BS degree in a scientific field or relevant industry experience; current, valid driver’s license.

Desirable Skills/Experience:
Experience in paediatric oncology or paediatric neurology (rare disease); infused/injected product experience highly regarded.

Experience with hospital pharmacists, infusion clinics, nurses and MDT coordination.

Exposure to launch or competitive environments and applying field insights to develop cross-functional plans.
