NCVPS: Critical Language Coach - Korean I (Non-Licensed)

💰 $3,200 - $5,120 (Est.) 📍 Raleigh

Job Description

The North Carolina Virtual Public School (NCVPS) was established by the North Carolina State Board of Education as an online community service K-12 public school for students throughout the state of North Carolina. NCVPS is governed by the North Carolina State Board of Education (NCSBE) and reports on a day-to-day basis to the NCDPI Chief Academic Officer. As a result of NCVPS’ work, students in the public schools of North Carolina have access to online courses that are unavailable due to teacher shortages or scheduling conflicts. These courses provide students with equity of access to a high-quality educational experience regardless of where they live within the state.

In addition to numerous curriculum course areas, NCVPS offers courses in the critical languages of Arabic, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Russian and Korean.

CRITICAL LANGUAGE COACH - REQUIREMENTS and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Students are matched with coaches based on demand and the coach's availability.
Coaches are provided a flexible work schedule to accommodate students between the hours of 8:00AM–12:00PM EST Monday-Thursday. Each coach may have multiple student groups to coach.
To help students with their language skills, critical language coaches meet in a virtual classroom with a small group of students for two 45-minute sessions per week to facilitate practice exercises and provide real-time feedback to students.
Coaches must have their own computers, a headset or microphone and access to reliable high-speed internet.
Since this is a remote position and students need consistent practice, coaches are expected to host all of their assigned coaching sessions unless there is an unforeseen event or severe illness.

Applicants must include official documentation of the exam completion certificate/score (if applicable) with the application in order to be considered for this position. To learn more about the ACTFL OPI exam, please visit the ACTFL website.

IMPORTANT:
This position is an online (remote) position.
This is a contract-based position, with no benefits associated.
Coach contracts begin in August and/or January during each academic year.
Teaching experience is preferred, especially in online settings.
Coaches must have the ability to host sessions via Zoom to provide online instruction.
A current teaching license is not required for this position, but a current teaching license can be an asset.
