Job Description

The Neonatal PA Fellowship is a 12-month intensive clinical and academic program. The curriculum is designed to transition a Physician Assistant into a specialized neonatal provider through three primary methods:
• Precepted Clinical Practice: Direct patient care with graduated autonomy.
• Didactic Teaching: Structured classroom and academic learning.
• Simulation Training: Hands-on technical skills and emergency response practice.

Clinical Responsibilities

The Fellow provides direct care and assumes increasing responsibility for patient management over the course of the 12-month term.
• Patient Assessment: Obtain histories and perform physical examinations.
• Clinical Management: Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests; prescribe medications; and develop comprehensive treatment plans.
• Care Coordination: Manage cases and ensure continuity of care for patients and families.
• Consultation: Collaborate, refer, and consult with attending physicians, specialists, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Administrative & Academic Integration

Beyond direct patient care, the Fellow is integrated into the broader hospital ecosystem:
• Quality Improvement: Participation in organizational and departmental continuous performance and quality improvement (QI) projects.
• Education: Engagement in educational efforts for patients, families, and the health care team.
• Research: Involvement in departmental research initiatives.

Required Education and Experience
Graduate of a nationally accredited physician assistant program.
1 year work experience in a healthcare role.

Required Credentials
Active, unencumbered Physician Assistant licensure in the State of Washington.
Initial certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants.
Active Drug Enforcement Authority registration.
Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) (as per United States standards).
Active clinical privileges as an Allied Health Provider, Seattle Children’s Hospital.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
Prior to start of employment, must obtain, and maintain in good standing, medical or allied health professional staff privileges that are not limited, revoked, suspended, conditioned, or probationary, except for normal probationary periods due to initial appointment.
All medical and allied health professional staff members are provisional for the first year.
Any and all medical or allied health professional staff privileges at Children's will terminate automatically upon the termination of the individual's employment at Children's; for this term limited position, the Fellow’s privileges will terminate with the pre-determined end of the position, as noted in the offer letter from Human Resources.
If a permanent position is offered and accepted, the application for privileges will be processed as a reappointment to the medical staff.
Termination of employment does not prohibit the individual from seeking medical or allied health professional staff privileges at Children’s as a non-employee in any category for which the individual qualifies.

Preferred
Experience in the Physician Assistant role.
Preparation at the master's degree level with a concentration in physician assistant studies.
Experience in a health care role in a Level III NICU.

Compensation Range

$143,823 per year
• This position is eligible for relocation for qualified candidates.*

Salary Information

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
