• Perform database backups, restores, and disaster recovery operations.
• Monitor database performance and implement optimizations.
• Manage database security, including user access and permissions.
• Implement and maintain high availability solutions.
• Troubleshoot database related issues.
• Analyze query performance and identify bottlenecks.
• Optimize database indexes and queries.
• Tune PostgreSQL server parameters for optimal performance.
• Collaborate with developers to design and implement efficient database schemas.
• Review and optimize SQL code.
• Help to create and maintain database documentation.
• Implement and enforce database security policies.
• Ensure compliance with relevant data privacy regulations.
• Perform regular security audits.
Required Skills and Experience:
• 5-7 years of experience as a PostgreSQL DBA in a production environment.
• Strong understanding of PostgreSQL architecture and internals.
• Proficiency in SQL and PL/pgSQL.
• Experience with database performance tuning and optimization.
• Experience with database backup and recovery procedures.
• Knowledge of database security best practices.
• Experience with high availability and replication technologies.
• Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with cloud-based Postgres solutions such as AWS RDS Postgres or Azure PostgreSQL.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with database monitoring tools.
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
• Knowledge of other database technologies.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
