Job Description
Responsibilities:
• Perform comprehensive health assessments using sound clinical judgment and diagnostic and therapeutic skills
• Practice autonomously, being solely accountable for actions while practicing
• Consult with physicians or other healthcare professionals when the client’s condition requires care beyond the NP's scope of practice
• Make appropriate medical employment limitation recommendations in accordance with the Surgeon General’s guidelines
• Prescribe medications and order x-rays, ultrasounds, and lab tests in accordance with the Standards of Practice for RNs in the Extended Class
• Implement strategies to promote health and prevent illness for individuals, families, or groups
• Collaborate on the management of patients with stable chronic illnesses (such as diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and asthma) through a predetermined referral process
• Refer patients to other providers or programs according to the patient’s needs
Qualifications:
• Licensed and in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Ontario
• Basic Life Support for Health Providers or CPR/AED Level C
