About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist | Kaiwhakaora Ngangahau who is looking for a dual role working at Matariki Hospital and in the Community. This position is based in Te Awamutu. Your role as part of the team in Matariki, is to provide quality assessment and deliver safe and clinically effective interventions to support our patients. You'll have the opportunity to assess and treat a wide range of conditions with surgical, orthopaedic, medical, neurological needs as well as manage your own caseload, including stroke rehabilitation. You will also provide high quality interventions to clients within their home environment in the community. You'll be collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and work alongside Physiotherapists, Social Work, and Allied Health Assistants.
About the Team
Allied Health is a department of the Waikato District that provides Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Dietetic, Audiology & Newborn Hearing screening, Social Work, and Psychology services. Staff within these professions are all involved in direct client care and work in a wide range of situations to improve the health and wellbeing of the people they work with. Allied Health staff work in partnership with individuals and their family/whanau to facilitate relationships and a smooth journey through the healthcare system.
About you
Skills and experience youll need to be considered for the role:
At least 12 months post qualification experience and ideally experience with the Ministry of Health funding process, however, we will consider new graduate OTs.
Rehabilitation experience.
Sound clinical reasoning skills and use of evidence informed practice.
Effective time management, prioritisation and organisation skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with a range of professional groups in a multidisciplinary setting.
Full drivers licence.
