Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and passionate On-Call Early Childhood Educator to support our educational team as needed. The ideal candidate will be flexible, adaptable, and committed to fostering a nurturing, engaging, and inclusive learning environment for young children. This role provides support to classrooms during staff absences, busy periods, or scheduled leave, ensuring continuity of care and learning for children. Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills are essential to effectively support classroom routines and children’s development.
Duties
Provide classroom support on an as-needed or on-call basis, stepping into different classrooms when required.
Assist lead educators in implementing daily activities and lesson plans that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
Maintain a safe, welcoming, and stimulating environment for children.
Engage children in play-based and educational activities that encourage curiosity, creativity, and learning.
Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, and transitions.
Support children with special needs or disabilities by assisting with adapted activities and individualized support strategies.
Follow established classroom routines, policies, and procedures to ensure consistency in care.
Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth transitions when covering shifts.
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety standards within the classroom.
Use basic computer skills when required for documentation or communication.
Requirements
Level 1, 2, or 3 Alberta Childcare Certification
Clear Police Clearance Check
Valid First Aid Certification
Ability to start right away, work flexible hours, and respond to on-call shifts when needed
Experience
Prior experience working with children in early childhood settings or classrooms is preferred
Knowledge of early childhood education principles and developmentally appropriate practices
Experience working with children with disabilities or in special education settings is an asset
Strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with children, parents, and team members
Basic computer skills for documentation and communication when required
Strong organizational and teamwork skills to adapt quickly in different classroom environments
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $16.00-$19.00 per hour
