Position Overview
The Online Brand Coordinator is responsible for managing our patron brand experience through our website and social media channels. The Online Brand Coordinator plans and develops content for SPL’s digital presence. The Online Brand Coordinator engages with patrons through social media and SPL’s website. This position is part of the Marketing & Communications work unit, and works directly with the Programming & Creative Spaces team, as well as in collaboration with all of SPL’s work units.
The Online Brand Coordinator is our social media lead, and is responsible for researching, developing, scheduling, and monitoring content for social media, and for implementing SPL’s social media strategy. This position monitors trends and developments in social media and the digital domain. The Online Brand Coordinator understands algorithms used on social media sites, and uses creative thinking and analytics to drive post engagement, and to increase followers on SPL’s social media channels.
The Online Brand Coordinator is our website content development lead. This role is familiar with best practices in online marketing and writing for the web, and proposes strategies to optimize and develop new content that is engaging and intended to augment SPL’s brand and external reputation. This role liaises with internal clients, our external web developers and other technical experts.
The Online Brand Coordinator tracks and review analytics to assist SPL in optimizing content to meet both user and organizational goals. The Online Brand Coordinator must have a solid understanding of SPL’s brand and exercise sound judgement in engaging with patrons through interactions on social media and other mediums.
The Online Brand Coordinator participates on assigned teams and committees. This position is responsible for understanding their rights and responsibilities in relation to contributing to a safe workplace and complying with the Saskatchewan Employment Act.
The Online Brand Coordinator performs all duties while ensuring alignment with the framework of SPL’s corporate culture as embodied by the vision, mission, values, goals and objectives outlined in the Strategic Plan.
Plans, development and implementation of digital content.
Participates on assigned teams and committees.
Participates in strategic-planning and department-planning processes; develops and executes individual work plan in consultation with the Director.
Develops and maintains content for the SPL’s internal and external websites and social media.
In coordination with the Director, responds to facility, service and patron matters following SPL-established guidelines. Enlists the assistance of relevant employees on projects, as required.
Provides expertise for planning, developing and monitoring social media posts and creating website content, both in partnership with community organizations and independently.
Maintains professional knowledge and awareness of best practices for social media and online user experience; attends training sessions, as required.
Demonstrates excellence in customer service and identifies opportunities to serve the community through recommendations for service and programming enhancements.
Presents information to employees, to community groups, and at professional meetings and conferences, when required.
Develops and monitors content on social media and the SPL website that is relevant to the needs and interests of the community and SPL in collaboration with SPL staff and in consultation with Director, Marketing & Communications and the Senior Manager, Programming & Creative Spaces.
With approval from the Director, identifies and modifies library services to reflect community needs and interests.
Acts in a collaborative fashion with other employees, both as a member of teams and on a daily, operational basis.
Interprets and communicates library policies and procedures to patrons; resolves or refers complaints.
Reviews annual budget with Director and may be required to provide recommendations for shifting available resources to meet strategic priorities.
Works with Director on budget elements of any potential projects. • Performs other relevant duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or Communications.
Minimum three years’ experience in the last five years with digital content creation, including writing, editing, content curation, and digital analytics.
Demonstrated experience using and maintaining WordPress and content managed websites.
Demonstrated experience managing corporate social media accounts.
Ability to create and implement innovative and engaging digital content/initiatives. • Strong customer service and written communication skills.
Demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities in the stated accountabilities and competencies. Saskatoon Public Library (SPL)
Ability to travel independently to and between SPL activities and locations as needed.
