Location

Our campus is located at 1601 Maple Street, Carrollton, GA 30118.

Faculty and staff members are expected to be physically present on campus as needed to support the in-person educational experience and on-campus vitality at the University of West Georgia. Depending upon teaching assignments and student demand, this could include the Carrollton or Newnan campuses.

Department Information

The Department of Early Childhood through Secondary Education and READ seeks a highly experienced Elementary STEM/Mathematics/Science education specialist to join our team as an Open Rank Tenure-Track Faculty member. The chosen candidate will work closely with the other Elementary faculty to develop, maintain, and/or enhance existing programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The duties will include both online and face-to-face teaching. Our department works to develop reflective educators who positively effect the learning of school aged children. Faculty are committed to enriching education through focused teaching, critical reflection, and scholarship across undergraduate and graduate programs.

Students in our programs seek to improve their knowledge, skills, and competencies related to effective teaching in grades PreK-12. We prepare teacher candidates for initial certification and advanced degrees in their teaching field.

¿ Contributing to course and program development
¿ Serving the campus community

Required Qualifications

Required Education:
Earned doctorate in STEM, Mathematics, or Science Education or closely related field.

Required Experience:
¿ Minimum of 3 years experience teaching grades pk-5 in a school setting
¿ Expertise in inclusive/collaborative settings
¿ Ability to maintain an active career balanced across the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service
¿ Minimum 3+ years preparing teacher candidates for teacher certification
¿ Delivering and developing online instruction
¿ Advising and mentoring students
¿ Experience developing and enhancing initial certification programs

Preferred Qualifications

Commitment to or experience with the following:
¿ Georgia State or national educator certification/licensure in elementary education
¿ Experience supervising and/or mentoring students in west Georgia schools
¿ Teaching diverse student populations including ELL and at-risk students
¿ Working collaboratively with university/community partners
¿ Experience in post-secondary leadership position

Proposed Salary

Salary is commensurate with experience.
