Perma-Pipe Canada, Ltd. is a dynamic, global supplier of pipe coating solutions and factory pre-insulated piping systems to the oil & gas, district heating and cooling and industrial markets. Our Camrose, Alberta Manufacturing Facility is now recruiting an Operations Accountant to support our growing business.
The Operations Accountant supports operations staff in reviewing, analyzing and reporting on inventory valuation, inventory transactions, direct and indirect labour, direct material and subcontract costs, and other overhead costs incurred in the operational segment. Must have experience with the month-end closing process and financial reporting requirements. Assist in the monthly close process, prepare month-end journal entries, account reconciliations, and customer invoicing.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close, including assigned journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, accruals, and overall maintenance of all accounts.
Perform general ledger account reconciliations, bank account reconciliations, and cash management activities.
Assist in providing schedules and commentary with respects to results and variances.
Perform accurate customer invoicing and customer credit management activities.
Prepare special financial reports as requested by management by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
Assist in the preparation of year-end audit working papers; including assets, liabilities, revenues and expenditures.
Assist with periodic sales tax audits and liaise with auditors to provide documentation as required.
Assist with external, internal and bank audits by providing necessary documentation/explanations.
Maintain financial security by researching and reconciling discrepancies; auditing and verifying documents while following internal controls.
Ensure inventories are accurately accounted for on an ongoing basis.
Support and assist with process improvement opportunities, best practice initiatives, and other special projects as assigned.
Document procedures in needed areas as required through written narrative as well as flowcharts.
Maintain fixed assets and ensure accuracy, generate PO’s from approved requisitions, create and maintain part ID’s.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
Minimum three (3) years of relevant accounting or finance experience.
Experience in manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
Hands on self-starter with proven problem solving, conceptual and analytical skills.
Demonstrates ability to achieve quality results in efficient and timely manner.
Strong organizational skills with an attention to detail and accuracy.
