POSITION SUMMARY
The Operations Manager directs and manages all operations with overall responsibilities for production, maintenance, quality, warehouse and other related activities. The incumbent will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of production processes, and a focus on maintaining high-quality standards, efficient maintenance practices, and effective warehouse operations. This position is responsible for driving operational efficiency, ensuring the smooth functioning of production, and delivering results that meet company goals for safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Production Management:
Oversee the daily production operations, ensuring the production plan is met on time and within budget.
Manage production schedules, staffing levels, and resources to optimize productivity and minimize downtime.
Coordinate with the supply chain and procurement teams to ensure timely availability of materials.
Monitor production processes to maintain product consistency and quality.
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and promote a culture of safety on the production floor.
Maintenance Management:
Oversee the maintenance of production equipment and machinery to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency (OEE).
Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules and ensure quick resolution of any mechanical or technical issues.
Lead and manage the maintenance team, ensuring they are well-trained and equipped to handle tasks efficiently.
Quality Assurance:
Implement and maintain rigorous quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.
With support from the QA Technician, ensure that products meet or exceed customer expectations for quality and specifications.
Analyze production and quality data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions.
Warehouse Management:
Implement best practices for warehousing, inventory control, and space utilization.
Coordinate with the logistics team to ensure efficient distribution of products to internal and external customers.
Staff Management & Development:
Lead, motivate, and develop all Team Members
Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and offer training and development opportunities to enhance skills and productivity.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes high employee engagement and retention.
Operational Improvement:
Continuously evaluate and improve operational processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall productivity.
Reporting and Budgeting:
Prepare and present regular reports on production, maintenance, quality, and inventory performance to senior management.
Manage operational budgets, monitor costs, and identify areas for cost-saving initiatives.
Ensure effective resource allocation across production, maintenance, and warehouse functions.
EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
4-6 years supervisory/management experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the plastics industry.
Strong knowledge of production processes, maintenance practices, quality systems, and warehouse management.
Proven track record of improving operational efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing productivity.
Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities and a results-oriented mindset.
Proficient in using manufacturing software and ERP systems, SAP experience considered an asset.
Familiarity with environmental sustainability practices in manufacturing.
Knowledge of safety regulations and the ability to ensure compliance at the plant.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Physically fit to do manual labour tasks in a large-scale industrial facility.
Must be able to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods of time including standing, walking, bending, twisting, kneeling, reaching, and lifting.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job may include but are not limited to close vision, distance vision, colour vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
