Job Title: Operational Lead
Reports To: Manager, Service Delivery
Salary (2026): Band 5 ($85,574 - $+6,5++)
Employment Type: Permanent, Full Time

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Service Delivery, the Operational Lead is responsible for developing and delivering training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge. This role involves monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of training initiatives, ensuring compliance with quality standards through audits and performance assessments, and collaborating with departments to implement quality improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities include:
Act as subject matter expert (SME) to design and develop comprehensive training packages
Facilitate training in both classroom and on the job settings
Schedule and coordinate training sessions, including managing attendance
Conduct ongoing research to remain current on systems, regulations, and industry standards
Utilize the learning management system (LMS) to track and report on training activities
Provide daily operational guidance and support to employees
Conduct audits and assessments to ensure adherence to regulations and internal standards
Escalate operational deficiencies to leadership in a timely manner
Monitor processes to ensure reliability and reduce operational errors
Apply continuous improvement methodologies to enhance service delivery
Develop and implement inspection standards and operational workflows
Create and communication correction action plans for identified deficiencies
Analyze performance data to identify training needs and quality gaps
Deliver on the job coaching, and track coaching sessions for leadership follow up
Establish tools to track post training performance (e.g. checklists, audit schedules)
Use internal software and checklists to conduct performance audits
Compile performance evaluation reports for leadership review and action
Document operational processes and publish standards operating procedures (SOPs)
Selection Criteria include:
Relevant education combined with experience in developing, delivery, and evaluating training programs, preferably in an airport or similar operational environment
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to assess situations and propose effective solutions
Exceptional time management and organizational abilities
Consistently demonstrates professionalism in interactions with internal and external clients, stakeholders, and the public, maintaining a positive demeanor regardless of changes in the work environment
Exercises sound judgment and makes reasonable decisions independently, without the need for direct supervision
Ability to quickly evaluate complex situations and make data-driven decisions aligned with operational objectives
Proactive mindset with the ability to anticipate needs, direction, and potential outcomes
Collaborative team player willingly provides backup support and contributes to shared team goals
Demonstrates advanced proficiency in adapting to new technologies and acquiring technical skills with ease
Strong attention to detail, common sense, active listening, communication, and project management skills
Experience with emergency response protocols and operational guidelines
Proven ability to effectively manage conflict and de-escalate tense situations
