Database Administrator Job Responsibilities
• Overseeing the Database management activities (Installation, configuration, data management, backup, and restoration activities)
• Administer and troubleshoot database systems that servers as the backbone of the business-critical applications.
• Ensure successful rollout of patches and software releases (for SW, DB etc.) to keep the system and all in scope IT applications status on the latest approved release.
• Manage production outage and drive resolution along with communication to respective country IT team.
• Adhere to the IT Services policies and procedures (including requests, incidents, problem and change management)
• Monitor and optimize performance of the database, plan for backup & recovery of the database, allocate system storage and carry out capacity planning.
• Develop process for optimizing database security.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors.
• Manage database access and privileges.
• Ensure high levels of performance, availability, sustainability, and security.
• Logical and Physical database modeling.
• Ensure that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly
• Establish a disaster recovery protocol and manage the security and disaster recovery aspects of a database.
• Schedule and perform regular server maintenance.
• Provide Development and Production support creating primary database storage structures, designing, and creating primary objects, modifying database structure as necessary for enhancements or performance, test schema refresh, query fine tuning and creating documentation.
• Provide DBA support with a high degree of customer service, technical expertise, and timeliness. Provide accurate and creative solutions to user problems of moderate nature to ensure data integrity and user productivity.
• Research, evaluate, design, test, recommend, and plan implementation of emerging database technologies, ETL and database tools.
• Be available for on-call support as needed.
Skills And Experience
• Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to address complex issues involving performance analysis, data migration, information life cycle management.
• Strong Database Administration and SQL skills.
• Operating system knowledge (Unix, Linux and/or Windows).
• Oracle PLSQL, Java, Oracle 11g, 12C, 1+C, App Servers Oracle WebLogic, Cloud environments (Oracle, Azure).
• Experienced in Data dump Export/Import, Database migration/cloning, RMAN, Data Guard replication, backup/restore, patching, maintenance, upgrades, and data masking.
• An understanding of information legislation, such as the Data Protection Act
