About the Role
We have an opportunity available to join our Pacific Public Health Directorate within NPHS as a Pacific Regional Advisor.
The Pacific Regional Advisor is a navigator of Pacific specific protocol and approaches for the Regional Directorate. Led by the Pacific Regional Lead, you will advance the Pacific Public Health work programme within the Regional Directorate and support a strong partnership between both Directorates for the benefit of Pacific staff in the Regional Directorate
In this role, you will provide advice on embedding Pacific specific principles and approaches in NPHS regional & local initiatives, projects and services that impact on Pacific communities. As required, providing support in relation to Pacific cultural protocols and language. Supporting the Pacific Regional Lead to bring regional and local perspective to Pacific Public Health & a strategic Pacific specific perspective to their NPHS Region
About the Team/Service/ Location

About you
You come with significant experience in working to improve Pacific health outcomes, reduce inequities and improve the health of Pacific communities living in New Zealand. You are an experienced senior clinical leader with proven experience of building capability and lifting performance of a team/unit. You will be able to develop and implement effective group/team strategies and work plans that deliver on organisational objectives.
A relevant tertiary qualification, or equivalent experience
Conversant in/A level of/committed to learning a Pacific language
Experience in applying critical thinking and using sound judgement to develop options and provide advice, particularly in leading complex or contentious policy work
Leadership experience, including designing and managing a portfolio of work, and resources
A preference for experience in working across multi-disciplinary teams
Previous experience in applying critical thinking, using sound judgment to develop options and knowledge of the machinery of government, and policy development, is preferable
Strong understanding of Pacific cultural protocols and significant experience working in partnership Pacific communities
