One year of related experience
Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable
Criminal background check required for hire
Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification required within 3 months of hire
Completion of Special Education Paraprofessional Academy classes (5 in the first 2 years of hire)
Oral and written communication skills in English
Mathematical skills including basic calculations
Personal computer and keyboarding skills

Responsibilities
Assist special needs students with personal health and hygiene
Provide behavior supports, including de-escalation and physical assistance
Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job
Manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
Follow health care procedures, including feeding and personal care
Work effectively and cooperatively with diverse individuals
Participate and work in a team environment
Adhere to attendance requirements, including regular and punctual presence
Promote and follow Board of Education policies, Superintendent policies, and departmental procedures
Recognize the importance of safety in the workplace and report unsafe conditions
