S.P.I.K.E Inc. is dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care to adults with intellectual and physical disabilities. We oversee a network of homes that offer a supportive and safe environment for individuals in need. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Part-Time Accountant to join our team and assist with managing the financial aspects of our operations.
Position Overview: The accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for the homes under our care, ensuring proper financial tracking for each client, and providing general support to the finance department. This role will involve a combination of bookkeeping tasks, financial reporting, and ensuring that all funds related to both the homes and the clients are balanced and accounted for.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure proper tracking of all financial transactions related to the homes and residents, including income, expenses, and client-related funds.
Assist with balancing budgets and preparing financial reports for management.
Support the reconciliation of financial statements and accounts.
Oversee client invoicing and payments.
Help track and monitor funds allocated to each client for personal and care-related expenses.
Work closely with accounting to ensure compliance with internal and external financial regulations, including adherence to service agreements, RCL requirements, and the Commission of Vulnerable Persons.
Provide financial support for other duties related to the company's financial operations as needed.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Chartered Professional Accountant
1+ years of experience in accounting
Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy in financial reporting.
Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (QuickBooks)
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Compassionate and patient demeanor with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients.
A background in working with individuals with intellectual disabilities is a plus but not required.
